Few days after my dissapoitment with Slackware 11.0. I was thinking between Mandriva 2007.0 and Gentoo. I tried Mandriva first, it impressed me, and I got stuck on it.

Distro is a very rigid and good distro, but there was one problem. On XGL (Comiz) when I would play video, and come close to monitor you would see white/blue dots.

I tried changing video players, downloading codecs, downloading drivers. But nothing happened. I tried this on two laptops which both have intel chipsets and its video cards.

First one is, older generation:
Intel® 82852/82855 Graphics Controller Family (Intel® 852/855 Chipset Family)

Second one, latest generation is:
Mobile Intel® 945GM Express Chipset Family

I did a last resort try, even tho I was pretty convinced it was a driver. You need to turn XGL of if you don’t want to see the little white dots, again if XGL got you bad, just turn fullscreen and move away and you’ll go on without noticing the dots.

Well I guess this solves someone’s problem, like it did mine :)
